Starting from the Brandy Creek Picnic area, on The Great Alpine Road between Hotham and Dinner Plain, we’ll follow the Brandy Creek Fire Trail down to the Cobungra River. At the bottom we follow the Cobungra River upstream through grass until we cross to the eastern side of the river, where there is a reasonable footpad to the base of Palings Spur. The climb up Palings Spur which has a few steep bits, is on a faint footpad that follows the ridge. Once above the tree line we head to Youngs Hut following Youngs Hut trail.
Sunday 10th Approx 10km
On Sunday we will retrace our steps away from Young’s Hut to make our way down Palings Spur. We will cross the Cobungra River, again at the bottom of Palings Spur before making the ascent up the Brandy Creek Fire trail to the cars.
