It’s been a while since I’ve visited “our” hut so it will be nice to see how she is faring.
Young’s Hut is a rustic former SEC survey hut that our club helps maintain in conjunction with Parks Victora.
The walk will start from Pretty Valley Pondage, follow the Fainters Fire Trail for a few kms uphill before heading across country to Pole 333 where we’ll take a short break, then on past Mount Jim until we drop down into the valley and the hut, a distance of around 9kms.
Return journey is via the same route.
We should have great views of Mt Hotham, the Razorback and Mount Feathertop.
If the weather is warm enough we’ll take a short hike down the valley from the hut to some waterfalls where we can cool off.
The walk is both on and off track, with some short steep climbs and is open and exposed across the top with no shade.
(Someone might volunteer to lead a Day Walk on the same day and join us on the way out to the hut.)
