I am determined to put on a walk on this day! The road to Falls Creek is definitely closed for the foreseeable future so Plan A is scrapped. I have injured a fetlock or something, so I am replacing the Plan B walk round Moncrieff Gap with something a little easier. Plan C is a walk in, up and around Mt Beauty itself (yes, there is a hill called this, as well as the township). We start by following the Survey Track past the golf course to Cranky Charlie then cross the road and make our way gently up to the summit of Mt Beauty (spoiler alert: it’s not spectacular!). We then make our way back towards the town, making a detour to visit the gorge on our way back to the cars. Total distance about 12 km, all on track, some gentle ups and downs but nothing too steep. Pace will be slowish. Nice mountain views at times, walk is mainly in shady areas.
If the weather is very warm, we will have an early start and finish. If you wish, there is water play or swimming at the gorge or in Mt Beauty after the walk.
Please phone me after December 26th to book on this walk, by which time we should have a weather forecast. No SMS or email bookings, please.
