Village Hostel
Holbrook
Holbrook Village Hostel prides itself on its standard of care, setting and connection to the community. It boasts a large garden with walking paths all around facility and outdoor seating in communal areas to enable residents and visitors to enjoy picnics.
The hostel is situated a short walk from the main street with the famous Holbrook Bakery in walking distance for residents to enjoy. The town of Holbrook, known as the Submarine town, has many fine eateries and motels for visiting families to enjoy while visiting their loved ones.
Residents are encouraged to continue with their interests in the community, whether that is a church, craft or exercise group or watching local sports.
Residents have their own room with ensuite, reverse cycle air-conditioning and ceiling fan, TV antenna outlet and phone portal for own personal use. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with their belongings such as photos or paintings.
The hostel comprises three houses that each have lounge and dining areas where residents enjoy each other’s company or make a cup of tea or coffee for family and visitors. The three buildings are connected through the central activity room and lounge. This features an electric log fire, hearing loop and comfortable armchairs to enjoy movies or sport together.
- The hostel has a 7 day a week activity program and is supported by a large group of volunteers of all ages. The Friends of the Hostel contribute to our residents’ lives by purchasing varied items to enhance our residents’ wellbeing and comfort.
- Regular hairdresser appointments in the new salon.
- Allied health visit on a regular basis – doctor, podiatrist, occupational therapist.
- Masseuse visits weekly.
- All meals are cooked on site by our two cooks and residents enjoy dining together in the main dining room. Food options – residents likes and dislikes and special diets are catered for.
- All laundry is done on site.
- Staff – The Care Manager, a Registered Nurse is on duty during the week and on call 24/7. We have a cleaner, maintenance person, care staff, gardener and activity officer.
- Interaction with community volunteers and Friends of the Hostel.
- Gardening – garden beds available for residents to grow vegetables.
- Internet / wifi – available to residents and guests.
- Involvement of family – ability to join in for a meal, visit, outings etc.
- Rooms for family events – In door and out door, BBQ available.
