Lockhart’s Gap Track is a fire maintenance track that follows ridge lines between Tallangatta Lookout and Lockhart’s Gap Road.
This is one of the Club’s regular walks that takes us through some magnificent forests with distant views of Mount Bogong and entertainment provided by the resident lyrebirds.
One group led by Bernadette will start from Lockhart’s Gap while the other group led by Ian will start from the Tallangatta Lookout. Lunch will be taken somewhere suitable on the track. After meeting the other group, car keys and pleasantries will be exchanged before walking on to our waiting cars.
All participants should wear/carry appropriate cold weather/wet weather gear.
At the conclusion of the walk participants are invited to a shared afternoon tea at Tallangatta Lookout where there is under-cover seating a BBQ facilities.
PLEASE NOTE: There are some very steep ascents and descents on this walk, hence walking poles are recommended. If there has been rain the track can also be quite slippery in places.
Please DO NOT text the Leaders – you must CALL either Bernadette or Ian to reserve your place.
To avoid last minute logistical issues organising people and cars, please book in only if you are sure you want to do this walk.
