PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE. THIS WALK IS SUBJECT TO THE ROAD TO FALLS CREEK REOPENING
It’s on again. A walk where we share some special food and have lots of fun with a bit of lovely walking thrown in.
This walk begins at Pretty Valley (Falls Creek). Whilst this is a full pack walk we only walk 4km on a well graded fire trail and then drop down into the beautiful setting of Tawonga Huts. We then set up camp, have lunch and then walk 2kms on a feint footpad to enjoy the views from Mt Jaithmathang. Of course it’s another 2kms back but our load will be much lighter.
After that we will ‘dress to impress’ for our shared gourmet dinner. Don’t be alarmed, any small item of formality or bling added to your walking gear will suffice and ‘gourmet’ in this context means not dehydrated. There is a lovely fireplace in the hut.
In the morning we will pack up and head back to the track but will head 2.5 kms down towards pole 333. We will leave our full packs here and head 5.5kms to Weston’s Hut. This footpad can get a bit boggy but it’s a good track. When we get back to 333 we will do a short cross country walk back to the fire trail. For this short section you do need to step carefully as the ground is quite uneven but we will take it very slowly. Soon we are back at the fire trail and then our cars.
Total distance on Sunday is about 6km with packs and 10km with a lighter load.
Please ring Bernadette to discuss the walk and so that we can coordinate nibbles, mains, sides and desserts.
