After a great time exploring a few huts in Kosciusko NP last Summer I thought I’d explore a few more. The dates have been chosen to avoid school holidays and Australia Day. It worked last year.
Day 1: Sun Jan 28 Drive to Dead Horse Gap. Walk to Cascade Hut. 9km / 300 m height gain.
Day 2: Mon Jan 29 Walk to Tin Mine Hut. 16km/230 m height gain.
Day 3: Tues Jan 30 Walk back to Cascade Hut 16km /450 m height gain.
Day 4: Wed Jan 31 Cascade Hut back to Dead Horse Gap 9km/ 365 m height gain.
This 3 night walk is all on well marked tracks and is part of the Australian Alps Walking Track.
If anyone wishes to finish here and go home they may, but it is important that this is made clear at the time of booking so that transport can be planned.
For others we will organize 2 nights accommodation in Thredbo, possibly the YHA. We should get there early enough to relax, wash etc
Day 5: Thurs Feb 1 Main Range Track (day walk) 24km / 835 m height gain
This well marked track takes in Mt Kosciusko itself as well as some of the lakes and Alpine scenery in the area.
Day 6: Fri Feb 2. Drive home.
