This will be a 2 night walk starting at Guthega Power Station.
Mon 30/1: Drive to the start ( about 4 hrs drive) and then walk to Whites Rv Hut via Horse Camp Hut. 8km Camp here.
Sunday 31/1: Walk to Schlink Hilton. 3km. Set up camp and then continue to Valentines Hut with lighter packs. 13km return. This means 16km total for the day.
Monday 1/2: Return to cars. 11km. This may be via Disappointment Track if we know the River is crossable; otherwise returning the way we came.
Overall the walk out entails about 700m height gain but this is broken up over two days and a large part will be done with day packs. The track is a well groomed management track. Disappointment Track is a footpad.
Heat, rain and mosquitoes are likely to be our main enemies. Who knows this year?
